AT&T Boosts Network Speeds for Meade County

AT&T* has expanded its 5G network in Meade County, giving residents, businesses and visitors a big boost in their wireless connectivity. A new cell tower will enhance the area’s coverage and capacity, and help customers unlock the power of America’s Most Reliable 5G Network.1

This new site will enhance AT&T’s coverage and capacity west of Brandenburg along state Route 228 (Battletown Road), as well as along Route 313 and across the Ohio River into Mauckport, Indiana.

“Just as highways and waterways were once the engines that drove economic growth and brought communities together, today that’s a task for communications networks,” said state Rep. Nancy Tate (District 27). “A strong, wireless network is especially important in rural areas and small towns, for it helps people stay in touch with each other and keeps emergency help only as far away as the mobile phone in their pocket. I’m glad to see that our work in the legislature to promote policies that encourage private investment are paying dividends here in the district and across Kentucky.”

The new site will also bring Band 14 spectrum to the area. Band 14 is nationwide, high-quality spectrum set aside by the government specifically for FirstNet. We look at Band 14 as public safety’s VIP lane. In an emergency, this band – or lane – can be cleared and locked just for FirstNet subscribers. When not in use by FirstNet subscribers, AT&T customers can enjoy Band 14’s added coverage and capacity.

We know how important it is for our customers to stay connected,” said Amanda Lich, Regional Director of External Affairs for AT&T Kentucky. AT&T 5G brings fast, reliable and secure connectivity to more than 290 million people in over 24,000 cities and towns nationwide, including Meade County. This helps residents and businesses get the best possible experience over the AT&T network wherever they live, work and play.

From 2020-2022, AT&T invested nearly $725 million in its wireless and wireline networks in Kentucky to connect more people to greater possibility.
