At AT&T, our goal is to put resources towards initiatives that focus on fostering economic growth and innovations within the communities we serve.
In the past five years, AT&T* has invested $215 million to increase education, skills building and career readiness opportunities in Black and other underserved communities across the country, including New Jersey.
During the pandemic, we committed $11.5 million to create opportunities for Black and other underserved communities. We are also helping HBCU students succeed in tech and entertainment.
Stand for Equality is one of our core values at AT&T, and it’s the driving force behind our goal to make sure diversity and inclusion are both a business and a moral imperative, inside and outside our walls.
One way we achieve these goals is to get involved in the communities where our employees live and work.
AT&T employees in New Jersey are joining the Edison/Metuchen/Piscataway Branch of the NAACP at the organization’s 14th annual Juneteenth Festival on Saturday, June 18th, 2022, from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Riverside Park in Piscataway. Juneteenth was recently made a national holiday commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States.
“We expect a lot of visitors to this year’s Juneteenth Festival – a celebration of African-American arts and heritage. We’ll have food, entertainment, and action figures, like Black Panther and SpiderMan, for photo opportunities. All are welcome.” – Reggie Johnson, president, Edison/Metuchen/Piscataway Branch of the NAACP
The day kicks off with a GirlTrek 2K walk at 8:30 a.m. The main event will start at 11:30 a.m. with music, live entertainment and presentations, food trucks, vendors, activities and games for kids.
We will have an AT&T Technology Tent showcasing its products and services, along with their partner Samsung. Volunteers from AT&T’s Employee Resource Group, NETwork NY/NJ, will have games and activities for the children at the tent.
Our AT&T display also will feature science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education games and activities for young people.
The AT&T Technology Tent will include:
- AT&T products/services in our tent and our AT&T Dream in Black Van
- An opportunity to enter AT&T Dream in Black Contest for chance to win $10,000
- AT&T and Samsung technology and virtual reality demos
- The opportunity to learn about and apply for cool AT&T jobs
- STEM education, games and activities for children
“It’s all about sharing with the community how to benefit from the latest technology, jobs and STEM careers. What better way to celebrate Juneteenth by reflecting on the past, exploring the present and helping our kids dream big about their futures.” – Jackie Jackson, AT&T director of regional operations and member of the employee resource group NETwork NY/NJ
