AT&T Names John Emra President, Atlantic Region

AT&T* has appointed John Emra to the position of President, Atlantic Region, where he will lead the company’s strategy, policy and corporate affairs activities, as well as guide governmental and community policy decisions.

AT&T’s Atlantic Region consists of: the six New England states (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont); New York; New Jersey; Pennsylvania; Delaware; Maryland; West Virginia; Virginia; and the District of Columbia.

“The Atlantic Region is home to the financial, cultural and political hubs of our country.  It is a region as diverse as it is vibrant.  I am proud to lead our dedicated team here in the Northeast and the Mid-Atlantic, which continues to find creative and innovative ways to best serve our customers and the communities we share,” said Emra. “I look forward to expanding upon the important work that we have been doing across the Atlantic Region, and building upon our partnerships with government, business and civic leaders. Emra began his career at AT&T in September of 2001 and worked as its regional vice president for external and legislative affairs in Connecticut until being named president of that state in 2013. For the past two years, he served as the president of the New England region.

Before joining AT&T, he was a consultant to the company working on the formulation of national broadband policy development by the US Congress and Federal Communications Commission as well as serving as the company’s media spokesperson.  His other professional experience includes more than twenty years in the field of strategic communications including electoral politics, government service, and legislative advocacy.

Emra volunteers his time with a number of organizations, including serving on the boards of: Connecticut Business & Industry Association, CAPA Connecticut, the Connecticut Technology Council, and the Southern Connecticut State University Foundation.

In addition to his work at AT&T, John is an adjunct professor of communication at Fairfield University. John has a Master’s degree from Purdue University and a Bachelor’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University.  He lives in Fairfield, Connecticut with his wife and two children.
