AT&T Surpasses Pledge to Equip 3M+ People in 13 Countries with Digital Training Skills

What’s new? AT&T is proud to announce a significant milestone in our commitment to expand digital resources and connections across communities. We’ve not only met but exceeded one of our key pledges to the International Telecommunication Union’s Partner2Connect Digital Coalition (P2C). This multi-stakeholder alliance, launched by ITU, champions connectivity and digital transformation in the hardest-to-reach areas of the world – a mission we wholeheartedly share.

Catch up quick: Understanding that true connectivity goes beyond mere access to high-speed internet, we recognize the imperative need for digital skills and digital literacy. In 2022, we set an ambitious goal: to provide over three million individuals across 13 countries with essential digital skills training by 2025. It brings us immense joy to report that this target has been achieved well before the deadline.

The details: Our journey since making this pledge has been nothing short of inspiring. Teams of dedicated AT&T employees have volunteered their time and expertise to enhance digital skills and job readiness around the globe, including in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia and Mexico to name a few. Collaborating closely with local partners, we’ve delivered tailored training programs, workshops and webinars through direct participation and contributions – designed not just for participation in the digital world but for individuals to excel within it. This teamwork allowed us to be even more intentional in our investments, factoring in the local needs and contexts of the communities we engaged in.

What’s next? This achievement reflects our broader vision – to create a more connected global community. In line with this objective, we were delighted in April to further commit an additional $3 billion by 2030 towards closing the digital divide, elevating our total investment to $5 billion since 2021.

The bottom line: We extend our gratitude to ITU and all those who contributed to making this possible. While we celebrate today’s success, we remain focused on the road ahead – continuing our efforts to connect even more people around the world.
