A New Leaf’s Mesa Community Action Network (MesaCAN) helps low-income households across the City of Mesa with a host of services in one convenient location.
And now, A New Leaf’s MesaCAN is home to a new AT&T Connected Learning Center where the community has access to high-speed internet, digital devices and educational tools.
This is all important because in Arizona, it’s estimated that more than 200,000 K-12 students don’t have access to the internet or computers at home, including access to the internet or computers needed to fully participate in the online world, an issue known as the digital divide. This new center is part of the AT&T Connected Learning® initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption.
Mesa Mayor John Giles joined us at the celebration and said it best,
“Mesa is a city of opportunity for all, and in keeping with that commitment, we need to ensure equity in access to digital tools and high-speed internet throughout our community. The launch of the AT&T Connected Learning Center at A New Leaf MesaCAN is another step toward bridging the digital divide here in Mesa.”
And that’s exactly why we did it.
The Mesa Connected Learning Center is the first in Arizona and the 36th center AT&T has launched nationwide, bringing us closer to our goal of opening more than 50 by mid-2024. And as part of our collaboration to open the center, AT&T also contributed $50,000 towards A New Leaf to further support its ability to give back to the community, reflecting our commitment to get more Americans connected and make an impact in Mesa.
