As Hispanic Heritage Month builds to a crescendo, recognizing the positive influence of our Hispanic and Latino communities on our collective culture and achievements, AT&T Kentucky is celebrating recent investments in the Louisville area that highlight the enrichment these communities bring to the Commonwealth.

At the center of the excitement is an AT&T store located in Louisville’s Outer Loop corridor. When a connectivity expert who was bilingual joined that store’s team, the value provided to the surrounding community quickly became obvious. Communicating with customers in either English or Spanish was another tool to help close the digital divide. Customers sought out the service of that bilingual staffer and store leaders realized what needed to happen next.

Today, the majority of the team at that store is bilingual, offering visitors an inclusive experience in either language. Store signage and display materials are now also offered in both English and Spanish – investments in materials and service that are truly responsive to the surrounding community.

AT&T Kentucky is dedicated to listening, understanding and taking action that advocates for and empowers Hispanic and Latino communities. Some of our other recent local initiatives focus on the sense of pride and empowerment these neighbors are experiencing through artistic endeavors.

AT&T was proud to serve as a sponsor of the sixth edition of the Latin Music Awards Kentucky, held in Louisville in late September. Bringing together people of diverse ages, cultures, and music preferences, this celebration recognized the best Latin music artists in Kentucky, building bridges and promoting cross-cultural understanding along the way.

And the celebrations aren’t over yet! A contribution presented this year by AT&T Kentucky to Kentucky Performing Arts (KPA) supports this month’s KPA Hispanic and Latinx Community Outreach Initiative. Features of the program include a series of masterclasses and artist engagement activities for youth and young adults, as well as community outreach providing tickets to public performances. While ballet or musical adventure are provided on-stage, audience members take home something more:  an appreciation for the rich cultural history and artistic excellence our Hispanic and Latino communities bring to these events.

Louisville business leaders say the Hispanic and Latino population in the Commonwealth of Kentucky grew by 247% between 2000 and 2020.1 Members of these communities are a vital part of our AT&T workforce and are also our customers. As they positively influence and enrich our nation and society, we’re proud to make local investments to help connect them to greater possibility.
