Everything we do is with connection in mind. More connection means more opportunity and more possibility for cities, counties and states across the country.
In Oklahoma, we invested nearly $1.5 billion in our network infrastructure from 2019-2023 to connect more people to greater possibility. We’re working to expand access to broadband to as many residents as possible.
I’ve been working at AT&T for more than two decades. It would be an understatement to say that our company has gone through many significant changes over the years.
I haven’t been more excited and optimistic about the work we’re doing and the investments we’re making in communities in Oklahoma.
That’s why I was honored to join local friends and neighbors to announce that AT&T has been selected to expand AT&T Fiber to more than 2,700 residential and business locations in Oklahoma as part of a federally-funded public-private project.
Public-Private Projects
- March 7, 2025 | AT&T selected to expand AT&T Fiber in Oklahoma
AT&T has been selected to expand AT&T Fiber to more than 2,700 residential and business locations in Oklahoma as part of a federally-funded public-private project.
This public-private collaboration with the Oklahoma Broadband Office (OBO) will use $11.4 million in federal funds made available by the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), coupled with investments from AT&T, to help bring AT&T Fiber to more than 2,700 homes and businesses in Alfalfa, Bryan, Marshall, Wagoner and Latimer counties. AT&T also plans to build fiber to additional locations in these areas as a complement to these projects.
The announcement was held in Veterans’ Colony in Latimer County. The Latimer County project will connect 455 homes and businesses countywide to high-speed internet, including 213 locations in Veterans’ Colony.
“Today’s launch marks more than the rollout of fiber – it’s the foundation of opportunity, growth, and connection for every corner of Oklahoma. With every mile of broadband we extend, we’re not just closing a digital gap; we’re igniting a future where our communities prosper and thrive.” said OBO Executive Director Mike Sanders.
“I’d like to thank Director Sanders and the OBO for creating such a positive framework that allows companies like AT&T to make these types of investments, that otherwise might not be possible. Our work with the OBO will help us connect more Oklahomans to greater possibility,” said Steve Hahn, president, AT&T Oklahoma. “Connectivity is vital for Oklahomans of all ages, so we’re glad we can provide more access to connectivity to those who need it the most.”
State legislators from Latimer County highlighted the importance of connectivity to their constituents.
“Latimer County is a wonderful place to live, work, and play. In the legislature, public safety and broadband access are among the highest priorities for me and our team. I’m glad the OBO and AT&T are working together to expand fiber internet in our rural communities. I look forward to more announcements like this one,” said State Representative Jim Grego.

September 2023 | AT&T Boosts Network Speeds in Tulsa, Johnston County, and Muskogee
AT&T has expanded its 5G network in Tulsa – adding a new cell tower along Creek Turnpike in East Tulsa.
“The continued expansion of Oklahoma’s wireless networks and evolution to fifth generation equipment are vital investments that help drive economic growth across Oklahoma,” said Mike Sanders, Executive Director, Oklahoma Broadband Office. “As we work toward closing the digital divide, we’re not just connecting devices, we’re empowering communities and connecting Oklahomans to a world of opportunities.”
We’ve also expanded the network in Muskogee, giving residents, businesses and visitors a big boost in their wireless connectivity. We’ve added a new cell tower north of Highway 62 to enhance the area’s coverage and capacity.
“This new investment in Muskogee is about more than bars on a phone, it’s about bridging the gaps between people, places and progress,” said State Senator Dwayne Pemberton. “In the Legislature, we have made closing the digital divide a priority by creating an environment welcoming of private investment, and this expansion of Oklahoma’s communications network chips away at that divide.”
We also expanded our network in Tishomingo, where new cell towers along West Place Road and south of Coleman along Highway 48 will enhance coverage and capacity in Johnston County.
“It is essential that we continue working to bring greater access to high-speed internet to rural Oklahoma, and this announcement marks a positive step in that direction,” said Speaker Charles McCall. “A robust communications network plays a key role in our State’s economic future, and through private investments like this one, our economy will grow stronger.”

“Access to quality broadband services, especially in rural Oklahoma, is fundamental to increasing critical outcomes,” said State Senator Ally Seifried. “Broadband is essential to almost every aspect in modern life. Without the infrastructure to communicate and connect in today’s rapidly advancing world, children will fall behind, businesses will struggle, and communities will suffer. For these reasons and more we must continue to prioritize broadband expansion and ensure every individual has the tools needed to thrive.”
“The digital divide is more than just a gap in access; it’s a gap in opportunity,” said State Representative Mark Lepak. “By creating an environment welcoming of private investment in broadband, we level the playing field for all and foster economic growth in our communities big and small.”
In July, we expanded our high-speed network in Harrah with a new cell tower along East 1040 Road to enhance the coverage and capacity in Central Oklahoma.
“I am excited to see the benefits this additional cell site will bring to Harrah,” said State Senator Shane Jett. “This new wireless network will increase student access to educational materials, help to ensure parents can stay in touch with their children, and offer the community at large the ability to access online courses and remote work opportunities.”
