Upgrading California’s Network for More Connectivity

Everything we do is with connection in mind. More connection means more opportunity and more possibility for cities, counties and states across the country.

In California, we invested nearly $14.4 billion in our network infrastructure from 2019-2023 to connect more people to greater possibility. We’re working to expand access to broadband to as many residents as possible.

Here’s the latest on how we’re making it happen.

New Site Builds

August 2024 – Across San Diego County, we’ve expanded coverage and capacity with new cell sites, including:

  • A new cell site located in Palomar Mountain in rural Northeast San Diego County, bringing additional mobile capacity and coverage for residents, visitors and public safety agencies on FirstNet. Additional coverage includes Bailey’s on Palomar Lodging, Retreat and Events Center, The Lookout and Silvercrest Picnic Area.
  • In Chula Vista, a new cell site is providing additional capacity and coverage for residents and public safety agencies on FirstNet in the Tavera and Avila communities, Montecito Park, Otay Ranch High School and the Chula Vista Fire Department Station 7.

“AT&T’s investments will benefit Chula Vista residents and businesses,” said John McCann, Mayor of Chula Vista. “Their ongoing investments in modern, high-speed connectivity are important for our community, helping students stay connected, expanding telehealth access, and supporting small businesses.”

August 2024 – In the Greater Los Angeles Region, we’ve invested $4.1 billion in our wireless and fiber network, including Long Beach, Anaheim and Los Angeles. We’ve also ramped up coverage and capacity in high traffic areas, like airports, stadiums and venues, including SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles Convention Center, Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana.

“These investments are vital for our community, they help students stay connected, expand telehealth access, and support business and residential growth. AT&T’s investments are helping create thriving communities,” said Maria S. Salinas, president and CEO, Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.

July 2024 – Along the North Coast, we’ve expanded coverage and capacity with new cell sites, including one in Forestville giving residents, businesses and visitors improved connectivity in the community of Forestville and along Highway 116 to Guerneville.

July 2024 – In the Central Coast region, including Monterey, Salinas and Watsonville, we’ve expanded coverage and capacity with new cell sites, including one in Morro Bay giving residents, businesses and visitors increased coverage and capacity to the community around Chorro Creek and Blue Heron Terrace.

“As we work to attract new businesses and economic opportunities to our area, this kind of investment makes our communities more attractive to employers. I applaud AT&T for their continuing investments,” said Kimbley Craig, President & CEO of Monterey County Business Council.

July 2024 – In the Central Valley, new cell sites have increased coverage and capacity including one in Tulare giving residents, businesses and visitors increased coverage and capacity to the community of Terra Bella and residential communities East of Highway 65.
