Everything we do is with connection in mind. More connection means more opportunity and more possibility for cities, counties and states across the country.
In Texas, we invested more than $12.6 billion in our network infrastructure from 2019-2023 to connect more people to greater possibility. We’re working to expand access to broadband to as many Texans as possible.
Here’s the latest on how we’re making it happen.
Private-Public Projects
March 13, 2025 | AT&T to Deliver Fiber Internet Access to More Than 1,000 Customer Locations in El Paso County
AT&T has been selected to expand AT&T Fiber to more than 1,000 residential locations in El Paso County, including 57 colonias, as part of a more than $3.9 million public-private project.
“This award marks a significant milestone in our mission to close the digital divide in El Paso County, particularly in underserved colonia areas,” said El Paso County Judge Ricardo A. Samaniego. “We are proud to collaborate with AT&T through a public-private partnership that will deliver new fiber connections to over 1,000 homes in our community. This fiber expansion will open doors to create new opportunities, ensuring El Pasoans have the connectivity they need in today’s increasingly digital world.”
This public-private collaboration is an example of AT&T’s work with local governments to expand internet access. In addition to AT&T’s investment, El Paso officials used federal funds made available by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 to help bring fiber internet to the area.
“Working together, we can close the digital divide in El Paso County,” said Congresswoman Veronica Escobar. “The public-private partnership between our county and AT&T will improve access to online information and resources for families and students, supporting their educational, economic and other goals.”
Extensive planning and engineering work for this project will begin immediately. The network buildout is expected to be complete by the end of 2026. Residents can learn more about AT&T Fiber at fiber.att.com and can sign up to be notified when service will be available at their address at att.com/notifyme.
“Our project with El Paso County will connect more households to fast, reliable and secure internet,” said Carlos Martinez, Director, External and Legislative Affairs, AT&T-Texas. “Public-private partnerships drive innovation and investment and ensure local networks are backed with private sector capabilities and experience, as well as the scalability to deliver the best technology available now and in the future.”
AT&T is working to roll out AT&T Fiber through public-private collaborations in communities across the country and to help close the digital divide. With more than 17.6 million fiber strand miles in Texas, AT&T Fiber is now available to more than 4.7 million customer locations across the state.
May 18, 2024 | AT&T and the City of San Antonio Launch New Multi-Million Dollar Fiber Investment
AT&T and the City of San Antonio launched a multi-million-dollar investment to provide AT&T Fiber to more than 20,000 customer locations. In 2023, the City of San Antonio awarded AT&T the Digital Connectivity in Underserved Areas project, and this expansion is a direct reflection of that award.
Texas State Senator José Menéndez said, “The partnership between the City of San Antonio and AT&T is a great example of how we can work together to bridge the digital divide in our city and across Texas. With new fiber connections available now and more to come, families will have improved access to online information and resources to support their educational, economic, and other goals.”
December 14, 2022 | AT&T and the City of Amarillo Celebrate Groundbreaking for $24M Fiber Network
AT&T offers ultra-fast internet speeds to more than 22,000 customer locations in Amarillo, benefiting residential and small businesses across the city.
“This groundbreaking signifies the start of new possibilities for Amarillo,” said Mayor Nelson. “Technology is ever evolving, and our city deserves broadband that can handle the present and future demands. I’m glad that we were able to collaborate with AT&T and other community partners to find the best solution to connectivity for our residents.”
One of the areas that will benefit directly from the new AT&T fiber network is the Barrio neighborhood, located in East Amarillo. The historic area, with a rich Hispanic heritage, has been the focus of a revitalization plan approved by the Amarillo City Council in 2018 in conjunction with the Barrio Neighborhood Planning Committee.
“The Barrio Neighborhood Planning Committee advocates for ways to strengthen our community and showcase our local talent,” said Teresa Kenedy, President, Barrio Neighborhood Planning Committee. “This investment in connectivity by both the city and AT&T will bring countless opportunities for our residents to work, learn and play.”
